Encaustic art and wax techniques are completely out of my comfort zone. I read and re read the wax challenge post to get a real understanding what it was all about and I surprised myself thinking 'I think I can do that'! Not half as good but will give it ago.
I really wanted to melt wax crayons but I didn't have any. But I do have beeswax pellets and a melt pot. I really don’t like using my melt pot I am too accident prone and would more than likely burn myself. So I settled for my heat gun.
Firstly I found a grey board tag from my stash, it already had some colour on it.
I sprinkled bees wax all over the tag and melted it with a heat gun, some did fly away but not many as I was using a large brush to 'tame' the wax to where I wanted it.
Then layed a circles die cut vertically along the left edge of tag.
Re melted wax and applied tissue with text and dragonflies stamped using fresco paint.
Melted wax on top of the tissue.
Stamped blobby flowers on tissue and coloured, cut them out and stuck them to the tag with wax.
Stamped and embossed mushrooms and caterpillar on white card. Coloured with Lyra wax crayons and clear sparkle pen.
Sprinkled some wax at the bottom of the tag and placed Jade beads on the puddles of wax, they actually stayed where I put them! I didn't need any glue.
Remelted the wax and stuck the mushrooms and caterpillar to the tag.
Scribbled a sun with Lyra crayons.
For the craft stamper challenge you can just about see the text on the background.
